According to the website of Dar Al-Handasah, the designers of Abraj Kudaj, the hotel is supposed to attract people from all over the world. That’s why ‘the building appears as a striking landmark with a profoundly modern multifunctional identity relating to both the Saudi locality and the Islamic universality of its expected users.’ By that of course they mean the billions of pilgrims Makkah welcomes every year. Abraj Kudaj will be built on a location only 2.2 kilometres south of the Masjid al-Haram, the largest mosque in the world, surrounding the Kaaba, which is Islam’s holiest place.
The architectural design impresses everybody. Would you want to stay here?
