We’ve been waiting for the launch of Fenty Beauty for months, but little did we know Rihanna would include a hijabista! The campaign video introduced on September 1 has already proven to be more than just an advertisement for the launch of Rihanna’s beauty line – it’s dedicated to All Women Of Color.
Hijabi superstar Halima Aden is one of the models featured in the campaign, “I want to thank the Queen herself @badgalriri […] for the opportunity of a lifetime! #historyinthemaking,” she wrote on Instagram.
Halima gained international attention since she became the first Miss USA contestant wearing a hijab.
It’s not a secret that the beauty industry has often been criticized for being painfully white in representation and casting. Rihanna is clearly making a point about inclusivity and diversity in this industry. Her brand, which she calls “The New Generation Of Beauty” will cater to women of all skin tones, especially those with dark skin. Riri is definitely changing the make-up game.
Fenty Beauty Cosmetic Line will be available to order on September 8, 2017 through Sephora and Harvey Nichols.
