Ramadan is a time when Muslims give up a big portion of their worldly pleasures to revert back to their one, true purpose: pleasing God. During this month, they not only abstain from eating and drinking, but they also indulge in other religious activities such as reading the Quran and memorising duas.
With that being said, here are a few duas to recite during this sacred time.
Dua For Happiness
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ زَوَالِ نِعْمَتِكَ، وَتَحَوُّلِ عَافِيَتِكَ، وَفُجَاءَةِ نِقْمَتِكَ، وَجَمِيعِ سَخَطِكَ
‘Allahumma inni a’udhu bika min zawali ni’matika, wa tahawwuli ‘afiyatika, wa fuja’ati niqmatika, wa jami’i sakhatika.’
O Allah! I seek refuge in You from the decline of Your blessings, the passing of safety, the sudden onset of Your punishment and from all that displeases you.
Dua to Increase Faith
يَا مُقَلِّبَ الْقُلُوبِ ثَبِّتْ قَلْبِى عَلَى دِينِكَ
‘Yā Muqallibal-qulūb, thabbit qalbī `alā dīnik.’
O Turner of the hearts, make my heart firm upon Your religion.
Dua For Anxiety
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْهَمِّ وَالْحَزَنِ، وَالْعَجْزِ وَالْكَسَلِ، وَالْبُخْلِ وَالْجُبْنِ، وَضَلَعِ الدَّيْنِ، وَغَلَبَةِ الرِّجَالِ
‘Allaahumma ‘innee ‘a’oothu bika minal-hammi walhazani, wal’ajzi walkasali, walbukhli waljubni, wa dhala’id-dayni wa ghalabatir-rijaal.’
O Allah, I seek refuge in You from grief and sadness, from weakness and from laziness, from miserliness and from cowardice, from being overcome by debt and overpowered by men (i.e. others).
Dua For Provision
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا وَعَمَلاً مُتَقَبَّلاً
‘Allahumma inni as’aluka ‘ilman naafi’an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa ‘amalan mutaqabbalan.’
O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, goodly provision, and acceptable deeds.
Dua When Feeling Sad
اللّهُـمَّ رَحْمَتَـكَ أَرْجـوفَلا تَكِلـني إِلى نَفْـسي طَـرْفَةَ عَـيْن، وَأَصْلِـحْ لي شَأْنـي كُلَّـه لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أنْـت
‘Allaahumma rahmataka arju walaa takilnee ilaa nafsee tarfata ayn, wa-aslih lee sha’nee kullah, laa ilaa ha illah ant.’
O Allah, I hope for Your mercy. Do not leave me to myself even for the blinking of an eye (i.e. a moment). Correct all of my affairs for me. There is none worthy of worship but You.
Dua For Forgiveness
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي ظَلَمْتُ نَفْسِي ظُلْمًا كَثِيرًا، وَلاَ يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ، فَاغْفِرْ لِي مَغْفِرَةً مِنْ عِنْدِكَ، وَارْحَمْنِي إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ الغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ
‘Allahumma inni zalamtu nafsi zulman kathira wala yaghfirudh dhunuba illa anta faghfirli maghfiratam min ‘indika war hamni innaka antal ghafurur rahim.’
O Allah! I have greatly wronged myself and none forgives sins except You, so grant me Your forgiveness and have mercy on me. You are the Forgiving, the Merciful.
Dua For Goodness
رَبِّ إِنِّى لِمَآ أَنزَلْتَ إِلَىَّ مِنْ خَيْرٍۢ فَقِيرٌۭ
‘Rabbi inni lima anzalta ilayya min khairin faqir.’
My Lord, indeed I am in need for whatever good You would send down to me.
Dua For Love
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ حُبَّكَ وَحُبَّ مَنْ يُحِبُّكَ وَالْعَمَلَ الَّذِي يُبَلِّغُنِي حُبَّكَ اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْ حُبَّكَ أَحَبَّ إِلَىَّ مِنْ نَفْسِي وَأَهْلِي وَمِنَ الْمَاءِ الْبَارِدِ
‘Allahumma inni As’aluka Hubbaka Wa Hubba Man Yuhibbuka Wal- ‘Amal al-lazi Yuballighuni Hubbak. Allahummaj`Al Hubbaka Ahabba ilaiyya Min Nafsi, Wa Ahli Wa Min al-Ma’il-Barid.’
O Allah, indeed, I ask You for Your love and the love of those who love You, and for the action that will cause me to attain Your love, O Allah, make Your love more beloved to me than myself, my family and cold water.
Dua For Guidance
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْهُدَى وَالتُّقَى وَالْعَفَافَ وَالْغِنَى
Allahumma inni as ‘alukal-huda wat-tuqa wal-‘afafa wal-ghina
O Allah! I ask You for guidance, piety, chastity and self-sufficiency.
Dua For Wellness
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْعَفْوَ وَالْعَافِيَةَ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالآخِرَةِ
‘Allahumma Inni As’Alukal-‘Afwa Wal-‘Afiyah Fid-Dunya Wal-Akhirah.’
O Allah, I ask You for forgiveness and well-being in this world and in the Hereafter.
May God be pleased with all of our efforts.
