A Laylatul Qadr Schedule So You Can Maximise the 27th Night

Celebrating Ramadan means Muslims get even more involved and devoted to performing religious activities.

This usually includes a longer time for prayers, reading the Qur’an more frequently than usual, engaging in charitable works, and staying longer in mosques.

But in the last 10 nights of the glorious month, lies the night of Laylatul Qadr, a night more rewarding than the rest.

What Is Laylatul Qadr?

The Laylatul Qadr is also known as the Night of Power or the Night of Decree, among many names, and equates to a thousand nights of bounty, worship, forgiveness, and Allah’s mercy.

The night is believed to be any of the odd nights during the last 10 nights of Ramadan.

If you want to enjoy the blessings of this night, stay away from all sorts of distractions and worship Allah more by taking a few things and these pointers below into consideration.

How Laylatul Qadr Should Go:

9:00 pm – 10:00 pm

Break your fast by drinking water, eating dates, and pray Maghrib. Then, pray the two raka’ahs of Sunnah. Say as many Nawafil prayers as you can and do so in two-raka’ah sets.

Every time you do a fard prayer, it makes you gain the reward of doing 70 obligatory prayers. Every time you say a voluntary prayer, you reap the reward of doing a fard prayer.

10:00 pm – 10:15 pm

Boost your energy for devotion and worship by carefully watching what you eat. Being smart with the amount of food you take in can be the key to not feeling too tired for the night ahead. Try and avoid fried, heavy foods to maximise the energy you will have to pray and reap the rewards.

10:15 pm – 10:30 pm

Prepare for Isha’ and Taraweeh by doing wudu or ghusl. It is recommended that you pray 2 raka’ahs Tahiyyatul wudu. Prepare for your prayer as if you’re seeing God, knowing that even if you don’t see Him, He sees you. You can do this by looking your best for prayer too, by wearing appropriate clothes and applying attar and using a miswaak.

If you feel like you look good, it could increase your concentration and application of worship. During these blessed nights, you need to be as optimised as possible so you can focus on prayer.

10:30 pm – 12:00 am

It’s time to pray Isha’ and Taraweeh. Pray four raka’ahs of Sunnah before going straight to the four fard of Isha.’ This is often forgotten, so include this in your worship plan for Laylatul Qadr.

Pray as if you have done so for more than 83 years because praying Taraweeh during Laylatul Qadr equates to that. Every ayah uttered every prostration made will be rewarded as though you’re doing it for over 83 years.

12:00 am – 12:30 am

After praying Taraweeh, make ghusl or wudu if you want to, then physically prepare for hours of worship. Hydrate yourself, eat something.

You could worship at home effectively, just make sure not to procrastinate or waste your time on idle talk. Find an area where you can focus on worship and worship alone.

12:30 am – 1:30 am

Start with the Qur’an recitation and reflect on each of the words of Allah.

Remember why you are celebrating Laylatul Qadr. It is because it was during this blessed night that the Qur’an was revealed, so make sure to recite it even more so on this night.

1:30 am – 2:00 am

Begin the nafl salaah, recite the Laylatul Qadr Du’a as much as you can manage, or continue reciting the Qur’an. Repent for your sins and ask Allah for forgiveness.

2:30 am – 2:45 am

It is time to pray 8 raka’ahs of tahajjud. Do it with long sajdas as well as surahs, which you should recite as much as you can. Make it a point to understand what the surahs mean to help you achieve khushu.

Pray the tahajjud to feel as close as you can to Allah. You can do it after Isha’ while it is approaching Fajr. This is also the time to recite what you have memorized from the Qur’an, while begging Allah for forgiveness.

2:45 am – 3:00 am

You need to make time for the dua, which should run for about half an hour, so it’s best if you consume suhoor around this time. Timing your dua right is good. Know that the dua done before Fajr is considered as the best one.

To avoid wasting time, have your suhoor ready earlier in the day. Put it in the refrigerator so you will only spend the night on worship alone.

3:00 am – Fajr

Spend the last 30 minutes before Fajr in dua. Glorify Allah and beg Him for forgiveness for your family and yourself. Ask Him for what you need.

To make your dua count, prepare a list of everything that you want to include. It could be for your parents, your family, the Ummah, and yourself.
